An hour for what?!

Yesterday for supper, Bre and I went to Chipotle. Anyone could get a free burrito if they wore something with tin foil. Soo......

We waited for an hour in line for a FREE burrito! I cheated and kept tin foil to the bare minimum. I covered a headband with tin foil. At least I got free food :D

Fall Conference 09

I went to Christian Challenge's Fall Conference this weekend. It was a great weekend! Since I just started going to Challenge this semester, I found myself signed up to go. We went to Salina for for the conference. Each day, we had a big group session with the main speaker, and then we had workshops on Saturday, and free time to hang out. THey had activities going all day. Each school made teams for ultimate frisbee, bball, and volleyball. We went paddleboating, and walking around the grounds, and met a lot of people! I think I hit name overload.

We had two options for housing. We could either get rooms indoors, or go camping...which I chose! It was rather cold the first night, but thanks to sweat pants and sweat shirts, blankets and a sleeping bag, I was nice and warm!! :D

When I got home, I had to get some homework done, but then I went to do church nursery...So since I had my camera on me, I took a pic of the kids I watch most of the time. I am going to throw one of those pics in here too, just to show you.

School...AGAIN

I had two classes on my first day back at school. I'm not too excited about starting up again, but I AM excited about this being my final year! I'm kind of anxious about starting something new for next year. I have doubts that I may not be able achieve a sonogram technology degree... When I think about that degree, it just makes me happy. I like being at K-State, and my family studies major, but I just don't get have the joy when I think about a career with family studies.

I am thoroughly enjoying my roommates this semester. All of us spend sooo much more time together now then we did all last year. I am also really excited about having Laura in my same apt. complex! I see her quite often!

Hopefully I will work hard and keep steady this whole year...the end is in sight!

Summer

So Summer is almost coming to an end. I can't believe it! Now all I have to do is fit as much as I can into these last couple of weeks. Here are some of the highlights of my summer:
**Staying in Manhattan for the summer- It's been really nice and quiet. The only problem is all of the construction going on before the students return....
**Not having to move in and out of "my place" at the end of last year and beginning of this coming year.
**I got to go to Country Stampede for FREE!!
**My family and I went to KC for the fourth of July...
**I have made it home for a few parties :D
**My sisters are coming home in 2 weeks, and we are going to TX as a family!!
This isn't everything, but it's been a great summer!

Memorial Day Weekend

Another Memorial Day has come and past...huh. Time is going so quickly! We went to Grandma Clark's church on Sunday for a memorial service for all those (in their church) that past away this past year. On Monday, we went to the cemetery where my Grandpa Clark is buried.

I loved seeing all of the flags around the cemetery, and the recent rains made everything look so beautiful.

Mom said that Grandpa was facing the field so that he could watch it grow! That sounded so much like Grandpa. I miss him so much, but I know he is enjoying Heaven right now!

We also lost my Grandma Val this past year. I didn't actually make it to that cemetery this time, but she and my Grandpa Veer were on my mind as well. I am thankful that God sent her to be in our family!
Who knows, maybe she and Grandpa Clark had a h-o-m-a-d-e ice cream party in Heaven!?!?

End of the Year!!

Today I went to Topeka to meet my cousin Adrian. His girlfriend took a three hour test in town, so Adrian and I roamed Topeka. I really mean roamed. We drove around for almost an hour before we found something interesting to see :D HAHA.
We drove and drove, and decided to stop by good will. What excitement for Topeka! HA! We drove some more and found a book and map store. That was actually quite interesting! We drove some more, and finally found "Old Prairie Town". It was small, but fun to walk around. There was even a lady in the store that told us a bunch of history.
We picked Abby up and headed to Barnes and Noble, got some Starbucks and read some books! What a great way to start summer!

KC weekend..

My family came and picked me up from Manhattan a few days ago, and we all traveled to KC together. It was a nice weekend. We actually got snow, which made the car traveling that much more exciting :D. Here are some pics from our weekend !!

This is us imitating our niece Ella. We don't look as cute doing it, but we tried :D HAHA.

This is our winter wonderland...in spring?!?!?

This is the view of our hotel's pool. There was a hottub and this pool which was half indoors and half outdoors. We decided to brave it, and we actually swam outdoors :D . It took me the longest time to get there though since we jumped in AFTER the hottub...which made the water feel really cold .... Guess whose footprints those are :D I'll give you three guesses :D **and yes, I said FOOT prints, not shoe prints **

Valentine's weekend...

So....I've had a fun time this weekend. I didn't get much homework done, but I have gotten some good sleep! Bre and I watched "First Wives Club" last night. She also made a cake for us.

This morning, we went to the 9:30 service at Grace, and came home for lunch. I made a pot roast, and that was kinda exciting! I stopped by after church and picked up some carrots....which is like the best part~! It turned out great, thanks to the advice of mom and dad! So...Bre asked if she can call me Betty Crocker. Good times. HAHA.

We are finishing the night out by watching the 5 hr version of Pride and Prejudice. That is officially one of my favorite movies. I also have some banana bread in the oven. What a great weekend...baking and movies!!
I hope your Valentines weekend was good as well!!

Thoughts

Yay for this semester chugging along! This is definitely the busiest semester I have had yet. I have little extra time, but I somehow fill that time as well. Tonight, I am having problems motivating myself to get anything done. If I can talk myself into finishing some homework, I can watch a movie. However, I have done anything and everything BUT homework (including writing on this blog!) . Wednesdays are my busiest day, and I feel like coasting when it's over.
On Friday, I am getting together with a girl I met in my speech class (my freshman year). She, my roommates and I will be watching movies and ordering pizza! I'm pretty excited to finish the week out by relaxing!
On a different note, thoughts of Cora and her family have been on my mind constantly. I can't imagine what their family must be going through!Having Ella around is amazing! I love her lots, and when I think about Cora and Ella (only three days apart), I think that it could have easily been Ella. They could have gone to school together and been best friends. We can't think about the "what ifs" or "if onlys." I have to realize that Ella (and everyone) is in God's hands, and we can enjoy every minute with her!God lent her to us. I will continue to pray for the Macs. God has a purpose. But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.Exodus 9:16

I love change :D

I got the wonderful I idea to get my hair cut today :D I pulled my friend Emily along with me too. It was a good start to a great day! The temperature was lovely, so Lindsay and I took our homework outside. We didn't do much studying though. We ended up walking a trail. I think that will be beautiful to do when everything is green, but it was nice to walk around without a coat! Here are some pics of my day :D

Grandma Val

I'm sad to say that my Grandma Val passed away this morning. My feelings are bittersweet. I'm sad to see her leave, but at the same time, she is in a better place. It was hard to see her suffering.
I wanted to say "Thanks" for all she did for our family. She stepped in from having only her mother as family to having 10 kids and in-laws, and 13 (now 17) grandkids, and 3 great-grandchildren. I don't know how she did it! She was great for Grandpa and our family. She was very unselfish and loving to all of us. We will miss you very much!! XOXOXO

Pain and Gain

So, it's been a week since I have worn my boot. I have never been so happy to wear tennis shoes. My foot still aches a little and hurts when I walk on it for too long. All in all, my foot looks better all the time and structurally looks better than it did. I'm so excited to have "normal" feet!!
Here are some before and after pics!! Yay for having only two feet!

New Beginnings....

So, this is my new attempt at a journal. Let's hope this lasts for longer than a few days :D
